MY BACKGROUND: I am a Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar with experience across both public and private sectors in a variety of areas in adult neuropsychology including diagnosis, rehabilitation, characterisation and decision making capacity. I was awarded a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Neuropsychology) in 2018 from Monash University. In my Doctoral research, I examined the best way to rehabilitate memory following stroke and published and presented my research both domestically and internationally. I am involved in a number of research studies seeking to support young individuals with acquired brain injury in the community. I remain passionate about stroke rehabilitation and support; particularly among young survivors. I also have a very strong interest in the application of neuropsychology to improving mental health and wellbeing more broadly. WHAT IS CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY? Neuropsychology is a specialisation within psychology that focuses on understanding brain structure and function, the assessment and management of thinking abilities including memory, attention, planning and problem solving. All these areas have significant impacts on quality of life and daily functioning. WHAT IS A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT? Assessment involves the completion of a number of pen and paper tasks and activities which look at how your brain is functioning. Following assessment, you will receive feedback outlining your areas of strength and weakness, detail of strategies you can use to compensate for or manage these difficulties and support in implementing strategies. Strategies may include the provision of cognitive and behavioural strategies, psychoeducation, environment modification, and focused problem solving and I can provide ongoing support in these areas.
