CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

  • INITIAL ASSESSMENT FEE with a Clinical Psychologist is $265. With a Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP or a referral from your psychiatrist or paediatrician you may be eligible to receive a rebate from Medicare of at least $126.50. At each consultation, your psychologist will be able to put your claim through to Medicare to be reimbursed directly into your bank account. 
  • FOLLOW UP FEE with a Clinical Psychologist varies:
    • Standard fee is $265 per follow up consult.
    • Concession rate is $175 per session.
    • Bulk Billing (i.e., no charge) in special circumstances for women who are for example studying full time or have low income. Please email us to see if you qualify for these concessions. Please also ask your GP or psychiatrist to request this as part of the referral to Melbourne Centre for Women’s Mental Health. 

REBATES

  • MEDICARE Better Access to Mental Health Care: Under the Better Access initiative, eligible people can receive rebates for up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group therapy sessions in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December) where such services are available and seen as appropriate by the referring doctor and the psychologist. With a Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP or a referral from your psychiatrist or paediatrician you may be eligible to receive a rebate from Medicare $126.50 per individual session and $31.65 for group sessions. At each consultation, we will be able to put your claim through to Medicare to be reimbursed directly into your bank account.
  • MEDICARE Eating Disorders Program: Eligible patients will be able to receive a Medicare rebate after a GP has made a referral and developed an Eating Disorder treatment and management plan. This pathway includes a course of evidence based eating disorder psychological treatment services (up to a total of 40 psychological services in a 12 month period); and up to 20 dietetic services, in a 12 month period, depending on your treatment needs. The rebate from Medicare is $126.50 per individual session with a Clinical Psychologist and $53.75 for each session with a Dietitian. At each consultation, we will be able to put your claim through to Medicare to be reimbursed directly into your bank account.
  • Private Health Insurance: As each private health insurer offer different levels of rebate it is best to contact your private health insurer to see whether you would be covered for a rebate through them. At each consultation, your psychologist will be able to put your claim through to your private health insurer.

Please note: You cannot use your private health insurance ancillary cover to top up the Medicare rebates. You need to decide if you will use Medicare or your private health insurance ancillary cover to pay for the psychological services you receive. That is, for each session, you can either access rebates from Medicare by following the claiming process or claim where available on your private health insurer's ancillary benefits.

DIETETICS & NUTRITIONAL COUNSELLING

  • INITIAL ASSESSMENT FEE with a Dietitian is $175. Medicare and private health insurance rebates may be applicable which lowers your out-of-pocket cost.
  • FOLLOW UP FEE with a Dietitian varies: 
    • Standard fee is $175 per follow up consult. 
    • Concession rate is $130 per session.

REBATES

  • MEDICARE Chronic Disease Management Plan: Chronic Disease Management plans are designed to help patients access the services of a range of health providers including Dietitians to help patients manage their chronic (ongoing) health conditions. Rebates for Dietetics sessions is $52.95 per session under this program.
  • Private Health Insurance: As each private health insurer offer different levels of rebate it is best to contact your private health insurer to see whether you would be covered for a rebate through them. At each consultation, your psychologist will be able to put your claim through to your private health insurer.


LIFE COACHING, MEDITATION & RELAXATION

  • INITIAL CONSULTATION FEE is $100.


CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

FEE STRUCTURE FOR CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY ASSESSMENTS IS AS FOLLOWS:

  • New clients: $265 per hour
  • Existing clients of the Centre: $175 per hour

Assessments usually take 3-4 hours and can be completed in one sitting or spread over two separate days if you prefer. A feedback session where the psychologist will provide you with your results and recommendations is usually an hour. The writing of short letters summarising the results or tip sheets with helpful strategies will not be charged a fee, however, if you prefer a detailed report there are further costs. A written report with specific recommendations can take up to four hours to complete. The detailed report will include a summary of your strengths and weaknesses, a list of recommendations as well as useful strategy handouts (four to six hour fee; six-to-ten pages in length).

Rebates: Medicare rebates may be available. Please speak to your GP. We are able to accept referrals under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme for Allied Health Services, amongst others. Alternatively, you may instead be eligible for private health insurance rebates, so check with your provider. Please note it is not possible to claim health insurance rebates and Medicare rebates for the same consultation.
